PM says Russia cannot afford extra budget spending 2017–2019

Çàñåäàíèå-ïðàâèòåëüñòâà03GORKI, Moscow Region, Jul 20 (PRIME) -- The Russian government must base the 2017–2019 budget on a conservative approach because the country’s budget does not have a room for additional spending, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday at a government meeting.

“I want to warn you straightaway: any proposals for additional budgetary assignments are quite unrealistic now. But we can discuss redistribution of resources. This is really necessary in case of need. Or else, in really exceptional cases, use of reserves if there is our final permission,” Medvedev said.

The prime minister said that none of the challenges and risks that Russia has faced lately have disappeared, which is why a conservative approach to the budget is justified.
